Potential health effects
Inhalation: May cause narcosis at high concentrations. Central nervous system depression, including dizziness, drowsiness, fatigue, nausea, headache, unconsciousness. This compound contains a material that may cause sensitization in some individuals, resulting in allergic symptoms of the respiratory tract producing asthma-like conditions (including wheezing, shortness of breath and difficulty breathing). Extreme overexposure may result in unconsciousness and possibly death. Methylene chloride is listed by IARC and NTP. Laboratory animals exposed to high levels in lifetime studies have developed cancer. Skin contact: A component in this product may be absorbed through the skin in harmful amounts. Contact with material may cause frostbite. May cause severe skin irritation. Eye contact: Causes eye irritation. Ingestion: Ingestion can cause gastrointestinal irritation, nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. Aspirated material can enter the lungs and result in pneumonitis. Existing conditions aggravated by Eye, skin and respiratory disorders. Pre-existing heart conditions may be aggravated by exposure: exposure to Methylene Chloride. Exposure to chlorinated solvents may result in liver, kidney, and heart sensitization. See Section 11 for additional toxicological information.
