Potential health effects
Inhalation: Methylene chloride is listed by IARC and NTP. Laboratory animals exposed to high levels in lifetime studies have developed cancer. May cause irritation to nose and throat. High vapor concentrations may cause central nervous system depression (headache, nausea, dizziness). Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal. Skin contact: Contact with material may cause frostbite. Tissue damage. May cause irritation due to defatting of the skin. May cause nausea, headache and general discomfort if absorbed through skin. Eye contact: Severe eye irritation. Ingestion: If vomiting occurs. Methylene chloride can be aspirated into lungs, which can cause chemical pneumonia and synthetic effects Existing conditions aggravated by Pre-existing disease of the central nervous system and the cardiovascular system. Eye, skin exposure: and respiratory disorders. See Section 11 for additional toxicological information.
