SECTION 2: Hazards identification
GHS Classification General Information: Fastener products are deemed “Articles” and are exempt from Safety Data Sheet (SDS) requirements under the Hazard Communication Standard – 29 CFR 1910.1200(b)(6)(v) – see below. ARTICLE: For the purpose of hazard communication, fastener products are “Articles” as defined in 29 CFR 1910.1200(c): Article means a manufactured item other than a fluid or particle: (i) which is formed to a specific shape or design during manufacture; (ii) which has end use function(s) dependent in whole or in part upon its shape or design during end use; and (iii) which under normal conditions of use does not release more than very small quantities, e.g., minute or trace amounts of a hazardous chemical (as determined under paragraph (d) of this section), and does not pose a physical hazard or health risk to employees. As "Articles," neither a Safety Data Sheet (SDS) nor a GHS-Compliant label is required for these products. This SDS is provided to our customers as a voluntarily-offered resource of limited information to promote safe handling and proper use of our products; and as a courtesy and service.
2.1 Classification of the substance or mixture
Under normal-use conditions, our mechanical fastener products are not expected to pose any health or safety hazards and does not meet the criteria for GHS Classification. However, unlikely conditions of welding, grinding, brazing, cutting, etc. may create dust and Particulate-Matter (PM) pollution that may cause health hazards. Improper use of mechanical anchors may result in safety hazards. GHS Physical Hazard and Health Hazard Classifications: None applicable
