SECTION 2: Hazards identification

(29 CFR 1910.1200) EMERGENCY OVERVIEW This product is a Lattice® braided packing. The body of the packing is composed of proprietary yarns consisting of a glass filament core with a spun synthetic fiber jacket. The yarns are coated with Polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) Dispersion. The yarns in the corners consist of p-Aramid fibers impregnated with PTFE) Dispersion and Silicone Oil. The final packing is impregnated with PTFE Dispersion and Petrolatum. Heating PTFE to temperatures in excess of 260˚ C can evolve toxic fluorine compounds. Additional information concerning PTFE is available in the “Guide to the Safe Handling of Fluoropolymer Resins” published by the Fluoropolymers Division of the Society of the Plastics Industry, Inc.. Polydimethylsiloxane component may generate formaldehyde when heated above 150˚ C in air. Excessive levels of some components can cause lung and respiratory tract disorders Maintain dust concentrations at low levels. (Continued from Page 1)

Principle Routes of Exposure

Inhalation of dusts Dermal and ocular contact. Acute Effects Of High concentrations of dusts may be irritating to the eyes, skin, mucous Overexposure: membranes and respiratory tract. Skin contact may produce reddening of the skin and itching. If exposed to thermal decomposition products of the Polytetrafluoroethylene, temporary symptoms of polymer fume fever(chills, fever, cough and malaise).

Potential chronic health

Of Respiratory and lung disorders can result by prolonged and repeated Overexposure: exposure to elevated dust levels. Conditions Aggravated Respiratory or skin conditions that are aggravated by mechanical irritants by Exposure: may be at increased risk for worsening from exposure to this product.
