SECTION 2: Hazards identification

OSHA Hazards WARNING STATEMENT: This product, as sold, does not meet the regulatory definition of a hazardous material. This product contains dimethylpolysiloxane which can generate formaldehyde as a byproduct of oxidative thermal decomposition beginning at approximately 150C 300F. Exposure to formaldehyde can cause adverse effects such as skin and respiratory sensitization and eye and throat irritation. Formaldehyde is a potential cancer hazard. Evaluate and control exposure to formaldehyde when warranted by conditions of use. SWALLOWING: Low acute oral toxicity. SKIN ABSORPTION: No evidence of adverse effects from available information. INHALATION: Not likely SKIN CONTACT: Non irritating. EYE CONTACT: May cause redness and irritation.

Potential chronic health

This product does not contain any ingredient designated by IARC, NYP, ACGIH, or OSHA as probable or suspected human carcinogen. OTHER EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE None currently known. 4. FIRST AID MEASURES EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES: SWALLOWING: If large quantity has been swallowed, and if patient is fully conscious, give two glasses of water. Obtain medical attention. SKIN: Wash with soap and water. Seek medical attention if irritation develops or persists. INHALATION: Inhalation is not an expected route of exposure. If symptoms should develop. Remove to fresh air. Obtain Medical attention if symptoms persist. EYES: Immediately flush eyes with water and continue washing for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention if discomfort persists or visual changes. NOTES TO PHYSICIAN: There is no specific antidote. Treatment of overexposure should be directed at the control of symptoms and the clinical condition of the patient. 5. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES FLASH POINT (test method(s): 200ºF (Tag Closed Cup) FLAMMABLE LIMITS IN AIR (by volume): LOWER: N/A UPPER:N/A EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Dry chemical, foam, carbon dioxide.. SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Firefighters should wear NIOSH/MSHA approved self-contained breathing apparatus and full protective clothing. Cool containers exposed to fire with water. UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: Product will burn under fire conditions. HAZARDOUS DECOMPOSITION MATERIALS (Under fire conditions) Formaldehyde, Oxides of Carbon, Silica (crystaline). 6. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES STEPS TO BE TAKEN IF MATERIAL IS RELEASED OR SPILLED: Spills should be contained with mechanical barriers. Transfer spilled material to a suitable container for disposal. Do not flush to drain. Clean up residual material with an appropriate solvent like paint thinner or mineral spirits (provided there is good ventilation and no source of ignition. WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD: Dispose of in accordance with all Federal, State, and local regulations. 7. HANDLING AND STORAGE PRECAUTIONS TO BE TAKEN IN HANDLING AND STORAGE: Normal precautions common to safe manufacturing practice should be followed in handling and storage. Avoid breathing vapors and mists. Avoid direct or prolonged contact with skin and eyes. Store away from incompatible materials (See section 10) 8. EXPOSURE CONTROLS / PERSONAL PROTECTION INTRODUCTORY REMARKS: Check exposure limit guidelines for formaldehyde, a byproduct of oxidative thermal decomposition of dimethylsiloxane, if this product is handles above 300F. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE VALUES AND SOURCE: None found for this product. RESPIRATORY PROTECTION: Use NIOSH approved respirator or self-contained breathing apparatus as needed to maintain personnel exposure below established Occupational Exposure Values.. VENTILATION: General (mechanical) room ventilation with local ventilation as needed to maintain exposure below established Occupational Exposure Values. WORK PRACTICE CONTROLS: Personal hygiene should be taken when working with or handling any chemical. 1. Do not store, use, or consume foods, beverages, tobacco products, or cosmetics in areas where this material is stored. 2. Wash hands and face carefully before eating, drinking, using tobacco, applying cosmetics, or using the toilet. 3. Wash exposed skin promptly to remove accidental splashes of contact with this material. 9.
