Health hazards
DATA PERSONAL PROTECTION RECOMMENDED: Wear Protective Goggles to prevent eye contact. Under recommended conditions os use no other protection should be required. SIGNS AND SYMPTOMS OF EXPOSURE: The primary route of exposure is eye contact. Direct eye contact can cause a transitory irritation, but it is not injurious. This irritation may persist for up to 24 hours. EFFECTS OF REPEATED OVEREXPOSURE: No injury from silica dust should occur during reasonable use. If use creates respirable particles, some respiratory system injury may occur. However, since the silica, in this product are compounded into the polymer matrix, they are not expected to present the same hazards as in the neat forms.
Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure
OVEREXPOSURE A knowledge of the available toxicology information and of the physical and chemical properties of the material suggests that overexposure is unlikely to aggravate existing medical conditions. SIGNIFICANT LABORATORY DATA WITH POSSIBLE RELEVANCE TO HUMAN HEALTH HAZARD EVALUATION: None currently known. OTHER EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE None currently known. 3. FIRST AID MEASURES EMERGENCY AND FIRST AID PROCEDURES: SWALLOWING: Get medical attention. SKIN: Wash with soap and water. INHALATION: Remove to fresh air, give oxygen or artificial respiration if not breathing. Get medical attention EYES: Immediately flush eyes with water and continue washing for at least 15 minutes. Obtain medical attention if discomfort persist. OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURE LIMITS: Because of the low health hazard, no exposure limits have been established. Medical conditions usually aggravated by exposure: Pre-existing eye disorders 4. FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES FLASH POINT (test method(s): >190ºc FLAMMABLE LIMITS IN AIR (by volume): LOWER: N/A UPPER: N/A EXTINGUISHING MEDIA: Water Fox, Dry Chemical, Foam or CO2 SPECIAL FIRE FIGHTING PROCEDURES: Use self-contained breathing apparatus when fighting fire. Full protective clothing, Use water spray to cool nearby containers. UNUSUAL FIRE AND EXPLOSION HAZARDS: None 5. ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Evacuate the hazard area of unprotected personnel. Dike with soil or other absorbent materials to prevent spread of spill, mop or wipe up and place in appropriate containers and or place absorbent material on spill and transfer absorbed solvent to appropriate containers. WASTE DISPOSAL METHOD: Dispose of in accordance with all Federal, State, and local regulations. OTHER PRECAUTIONS: Store in cool, dry place. Keep container closed and away from heat and flame. Do not lay container on its side. 6. PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES (based on typical material)
