P271 Use only outdoors or in a well‐ventilated area. P273 Avoid release to the environment. P280 Wear protective gloves/protective clothing/eye protection/face protection.
Response
P370 + P378 In case of fire: Use dry sand, dry chemical or alcohol‐resistant foam to extinguish. P301 + P310 IF SWALLOWED: Immediately call a POISON CENTER or doctor/physician. P303 + P361 + 353 IF ON SKIN (or hair): Remove/Take off immediately all contaminated clothing. Rinse skin with water/shower. P304 + P340 IF INHALED: Remove victim to fresh air and keep at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. P305 IF IN EYES: Rinse cautiously with water for several minutes. Remove contact lenses, if present and easy to do. Continue rinsing. P312 Call a POISON CENTER or doctor/ physician if you feel unwell. P331 Do NOT induce vomiting. P332 If skin irritation occurs: Get medical advice/attention. P337 If eye irritation persists: Get medical advice/attention. P362 Take off contaminated clothing and wash before reuse.
Storage
P403 + P235 Store in a well‐ventilated place. Keep cool. P405 Store locked up. Requirements Store away from strong oxidizing agents, in a cool, dry place with adequate explosion‐proof ventilation. Ground equipment to prevent accumulation of static charge. If pouring or transferring materials, containers must be bonded and ground. SECTION 08: EXPOSURE CONTROL/PERSONAL PROTECTION Exposure Limits: ACGIH TLV 150 ppm (xylene) OSHA PEL 150 ppm (xylene) Other NIOSH IDLH 1500 ppm Engineering Controls: General Use only with ventilation sufficient to prevent exceeding recommended exposure limit or buildup of explosive concentrations of vapor in air. Use explosion‐proof equipment. Local Exhaust Both local exhaust and good general room ventilation must be provided. Other Minimize breathing vapour or mist. Avoid prolonged or repeated contact with skin. Use good hygiene when handling this product. Personal Protective Equipment: Gloves Use chemical resistant gloves like butyl rubber; avoid prolonged or repeated skin contact. Respirator Avoid inhalation and use only MSHA or NIOSH approved atmosphere supplying or air purifying respirators in confined or enclosed spaces for organic vapours if needed. Eye Use splash goggles or face shield to protect face and eyes. An eyewash station and a safety shower should be available. Footwear Remove contaminated shoes and thoroughly clean and dry before use. Clothing Remove contaminated clothing and laundry or dry‐clean before reuse. Other Cleanse skin thoroughly after handling and before eating or drinking. Product is easily removed with waterless hand cleaners followed by washing thoroughly with soap and water. Hazard Index: Health = 1, Fire = 3, Reactivity = 0 SECTION 09: PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES Physical State: Liquid Odour and Appearance: Petroleum odour, Clear liquid Odour Threshold: 1 ppm Specific Gravity: 0.9‐0.95 g/cm3 Vapour Density (air = 1): >3 Vapour Pressure: 8.29 mm Hg @ 25°C Evaporation Rate (n‐butyl acetate = 1): 0.6 Flammability Class: 3 Boiling Point: 137°C Freezing Point: N/A Volatile % by Weight: 60 – 90% pH: N/A Coefficient of Water/Oil Distribution: N/E Solubility in Water: Insoluble SECTION 10: STABILITY AND REACTIVITY Chemical Stability: Stable Incompatibility With Other Substances: Conditions to avoid: Heat, sparks and open flames. Hazardous Ingredients
Ingredients: % CAS# OSHA PEL TLV STEL Xylene 60‐90 1330‐20‐7 1000 ppm 150 ppm Acrylic Resin 10‐40 mixture N/E SECTION 04: FIRST AID MEASURES Skin Contact: Wash with soap and water. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes. Do not reuse until cleaned. If persistent irritation occurs, get medical attention. Eye Contact: DO NOT RUB. Flush eyes with plenty of water for 15 minutes while holding eyelids open. If irritation persists, GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. Inhalation: Remove victim to fresh air and provide oxygen if breathing is difficult. Give artificial respiration if not breathing. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. Ingestion: DO NOT INDUCE VOMITING. If vomiting occurs spontaneously, keep head below hips to prevent aspiration of liquid into lungs. GET MEDICAL ATTENTION IMMEDIATELY. SECTION 05: FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES Flammable: Yes, Flammable Liquid Means of Extinction: Use water fog, foam, dry chemical, or CO2. Do not use a direct stream of water. Product will float and can re‐ignite on the surface of the water. Flash Point: 25°C (TCC) Upper Flammable Limit: 5.3 % Lower Flammable Limit: 1.0 % Auto Ignition Temperature: N/E Explosion Data – Vapours are heavier than air and may accumulate in low areas inadequately ventilated. Sensitivity to Impact: Vapours may also travel along the ground to be ignited at locations distant from the handling site and flashback of flame to the handling site may occur. Explosion Data – Static accumulator, ensure containers are properly grounded. Never use welding or cutting Sensitivity to Static Discharge: torch on or near containers, even when empty. Product or residue may ignite explosively. Hazardous Combustion Products: Closed containers may explode when exposed to extreme temperatures. Thermal decomposition or combustion may generate irritating and or toxic gases like carbon monoxide (CO) and carbon dioxide (CO2). Special Fire Fighting Procedures: Evacuate hazard area of unprotected personnel. Wear proper protective clothing, including a NIOSH‐approved, positive pressure, self‐contained, breathing apparatus. Cool fire‐ exposed containers with water. In case of large fires, also cool surrounding equipment and structures with water. If a leak or spill has not ignited, use water spray to disperse the vapours. SECTION 06: ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES Leak and Spill Procedures: This product is flammable. Shut off and eliminate all ignition sources. Keep people away. Minimize breathing vapors. Minimize skin contact. Ventilate confined spaces. Open all windows and doors. Flush with water to a tank or an open well‐ventilated area. Recover by pumping. USE EXPLOSION PROOF EQUIPMENT. Keep product out of sewers, watercourses, and soil by diking or impounding. Apply a suitable absorbent such as sand, earth to the spill areas. Do not use combustible materials such as sawdust. Control runoff and isolate discharge material for proper waste‐ disposal method. Advise authorities if product has entered or may enter sewers, watercourses, or extensive land areas. Use non‐leaking containers, seal tightly, and label properly. Dispose of in accordance with applicable environmental regulations. SECTION 07: HANDLING AND STORAGE Handling Procedures and Equipment: Keep away from heat, sparks, and open flame. DO NOT WELD, heat or drill on or near containers. Even empty containers can contain explosive vapors or residue. Keep containers closed. Do not breathe vapors or spray mist.
