Principle Routes of Exposure
Eye. Inhalation. Skin. Signs and Symptoms of Acute Exposure See component summary. • Polyolefin, unspecified Hot material may cause thermal burns. At process temperatures, irritating fumes may cause soreness in the nose and throat; coughing may result. Mechanical irritation is possible. • Decabromodiphenyl Oxide 1163-19-5 At process temperatures irritating fumes may be produced. • Antimony Trioxide 1309-64-4 Antimony Trioxide may be harmful on contact, if inhaled, or swallowed. Contact with skin or eyes may cause irritation and skin rash. Inhalation of antimony trioxide dust may irritate the nose, throat, and lungs. Exposure symptoms include sore throat, cough, nausea, metallic taste, and in severe cases, irregular heartbeat and fluid in the the lungs. If swallowed, antimony trioxide may cause cramps, nausea, severe vomiting, and diarrhea. Skin Molten polymer may cause thermal burns. Inhalation At process temperatures irritating fumes may be produced. Inhalation of process fumes and vapors may cause soreness in the nose and throat and coughing. "Nuisance dust" such as polymer dust typically exhibit no significant health effect when they are reasonably controlled. Exposure to high concentrations of dust may cause slight irritation by mechanical action. Eye Mechanical irritation is possible. Ingestion Ingestion not a likely route of exposure.
Potential chronic health
See component summary. • Polyolefin, unspecified No known chronic health effects. • Decabromodiphenyl Oxide 1163-19-5 No chronic health hazards have been attributed to this material. • Antimony Trioxide 1309-64-4 Prolonged or repeated exposures to dust may cause headache, poor appetite, dry throat, cough, sleeplessness, and damage to the liver, kidneys, heart, and lungs. The International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) has evaluated and designated antimony trioxide as a Group 2B carcinogen, which indicates that it is possibly carcinogenic to humans. Conditions Aggravated by Exposure No known conditions are aggravated by this material.
