Principle Routes of Exposure
Skin and eye contact, ingestion and inhalation. Skin Contact: May irritate the skin. Eye Contact: May irritate the eyes. Ingestion: Small quantities are unlikely to cause toxic effect. Ingestion of large quantities can cause severe gastrointestinal irritation and, muscular weakness. In extreme cases (particularly in very young), formation of methaemoglobin (‘Blue baby’ syndrome) and cyanosis (indicated by blueness around the mouth) may occur. Inhalation: Inhalation of dust may irritate nose, throat, and lungs. Long term effects: No adverse effects are known.
