Principle Routes of Exposure

Page 4 Flammable Properties Flash Point Not Applicable Fire and Explosion Hazards: Like most organic materials in powder form, dust generated from this product may form a flammable dust-air mixture. Potential for a dust explosion may exist. Minimize the generation and accumulation of dust. Keep away from sources of ignition. Hazardous gases/vapors potentially produced in fire are carbon monoxide, carbon dioxide, various aldehydes, acrolein, allyl alcohol, ethanol, methanol, acetic acid and acetone. Extinguishing Media Use media appropriate for surrounding material. Water, Foam, Dry Chemical, CO2. Fire Fighting Instructions Evacuate personnel to a safe area. Wear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full protective equipment. Keep personnel removed and upwind of fire. Avoid breathing vapors or toxic fumes. Safeguards (Personnel) NOTE: Review FIRE FIGHTING MEASURES and HANDLING (PERSONNEL) sections before proceeding with clean-up. Use appropriate PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT during clean-up. If toxic fumes from overheating are released, evacuate personnel to a safe area. Wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and eliminate the cause of overheating. Spill Clean Up Spilled -material is-a-slipping- hazard. Sweep up to avoid slipping hazard. Handling (Personnel) Page 5 Avoid breathing vapor or dust. See FIRST AID and PERSONAL PROTECTIVE EQUIPMENT SECTIONS. Handling (Physical Aspects) Minimize the generation and accumulation of dust.

Storage

Store in a cool, dry place. Keep containers tightly closed to prevent moisture absorption and contamination. Engineering Controls Maintain process temperature at or below 265 degrees C and reduce process hold-up time to minimize the generation of fumes that could represent a potential hazard. Minimize process hold-up time, and use local exhaust ventilation. If melting and processing of the polymer occurs at temperatures above 265 degrees C, especially in the absence of air, properly designed engineering controls such as a local exhaust ventilation should be used. Vents from process equipment and local exhaust system should he directed to a safe location away from personnel. If the ventilation system is not adequate to remove any potentially toxic fumes, NIOSH approved respirators with organic vapor cartridges should be worn where air-purifying respirators have been shown to provide adequate protection. Adequate ventilation should be provided to keep dust concentrations below the exposure limits. Personal Protective Equipment Eye/Face Protection Wear safety glasses. Wear coverall chemical splash goggles and face shield when possibility exists for eye or face contact due to splashing or spraying of molten material. A full face mask positive-pressure air-supplied respirator provides protection from eye irritation Respirators A NIOSH/MSHA approved air-purifying respirator with an organic vapor cartridge with a dust/mist filter may be permissible under certain circumstances where airborne concentrations are expected to exceed exposure limits. Use a positive-pressure air-supplied respirator if there is any potential for an uncontrolled release, exposure levels are not known, or any other circumstances where Page © air-purifying respirators may not provide adequate protection. During grinding, sawing, routing, drilling or sanding operations use a NIOSH/MSHA approved air-purifying respirator with dust/mist cartridge or canister if airborne particulate concentrations are expected to exceed permissible exposure levels. Protective Clothing If there is potential contact with hot/molten material, wear heat resistant clothing and footwear. Wear leather or cotton gloves when grinding, sawing, routing, drilling or sanding. Exposure Guidelines Exposure Limits "SORONA" POLYMER ON SYNONYM LIST SORO16 PEL

Components (Remarks) Additives in this product do not present a respiration hazard Page 2 unless the product is ground to a powder of respirable size and the dust is inhaled. All dusts are potentially injurious to the respiratory tract if respirable particles are generated and inhaled in sufficiently high concentrations. Good industrial hygiene practices, as with all dusts, should include precautions to prevent inhalation of respirable particles. Potential Health Effects ADDITIONAL HEALTH EFFECTS Read the datasheet for this product or the molding guide for this resin family. INGESTION: Not a probable route of exposure. SKIN: Contact with hot polymer will produce thermal burns. EYE: Mechanical irritant. INHALATION: Polymer pellets not respirable as marketed. Inhalation of the dust generated in handling or processing May cause irritation of nose, throat and lungs with sneezing or runny nose. If overheated or held too long at processing temperatures, the polymer may release highly toxic gases including acrolein and allyl alcohol. These gases may be irritating to the eyes, upper respiratory tract and lungs. Exposure to acrolein and/or allyl alcohol can cause cough, difficulty breathing, shortness of breath, accumulation of fluid in the lungs (pulmonary edema) and death. CHRONIC EFFECTS: None known for this product. Repeated overexposure to allyl alcohol may cause liver and kidney effects. MEDICAL CONDITIONS AGGRAVATED BY EXPOSURE: None known. CARBON BLACK Immediate effects of overexposure to Carbon Black by inhalation may include irritation of the nose, throat, and lungs with cough, difficulty breathing or shortness of breath. If particles from Carbon Black contact the eye, mechanical irritation with tearing, pain or blurred vision may result. Significant skin permeation, and systemic toxicity, after contact with Carbon Black appears unlikely. There are no reports of human sensitization. 3 Epidemiologic studies demonstrate no significant risk of human cancer from exposure to Carbon Black. While some reports cite an increased incidence of pulmonary abnormalities, such as decreased pulmonary function and radiological changes among Carbon Black workers, other reports show no correlation between exposure and effects on pulmonary function or disease. Increased susceptibility to the effects of Carbon Black may be observed in persons with pre-existing disease of the lungs. Carcinogenicity Information The
