SECTION 2: Hazards identification

Emergency Overview CAUTION! Causes (moderate) eye injury (irritation). Avoid contact with eyes or clothing.

Potential health effects

Avoid contact with eyes or clothing. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. ANIMAL DATA: (Some tests were run using formulated material) Inhalation: The effects in animals from single, high exposures include respiratory and eye irritation, weight loss and weakness. Skin Contact: The effect in animals from single, high doses includes nonspecific effects such as diarrhea and weight losses. Repeated exposure to lower dose levels caused no signs of toxicity. Ingestion: The effects from single, high oral doses include diarrhea and vomiting. Repeated or long-term ingestion of low doses caused mild diarrhea in some animals, but no other clinical or pathological evidence of toxicity. Tests in animals demonstrate no developmental or reproductive toxicity. Fosamine ammonium does not produce genetic damage in bacterial or mammalian cell cultures or animals. It has not been tested for heritable genetic damage. OF OVEREXPOSURE Skin contact may initially include skin irritation with discomfort or rash. Significant skin permeation, and systemic toxicity, after contact appears unlikely. Eye contact may initially include eye irritation with discomfort, tearing, or blurring of vision. Inhalation may include irritation of the upper respiratory passages, and nonspecific discomfort, such as nausea, headache, or weakness. Ingestion of high doses may cause nonspecific discomfort, such as nausea, headache, or weakness. Continued) Carcinogenicity Information None of the components present in this material at concentrations equal to or greater than 0.1% are listed by IARC NTP
