Acute Health Hazards
Threshold Limit Value Acute Exposure (Eyes) 10 mg/m3 for stearates; ACGIH-TWA. May cause irritation similar to a nuisance dust. Acute Exposure (Skin) Not expected to be a skin irritant. Acute Exposure (Inhalation) Dust inhaled in substantial amounts may irritate the respiratory tract. Extreme exposure may cause temporary breathing difficulties. Acute Exposure (Ingestion) Expected to be slight. Large dose may cause gastric upset. Chronic Exposure Effects Long-term inhalation of high concentrations of dust may increase mucous flow in nose and respiratory system, but this usually disappears after exposure ceases. Other Data No evidence that this product is a carcinogen, teratogen or reproductive toxin.

Inhalation, skin and eye contact Section 8 - Preventive Measures Other Precautions High concentration of dust may create dust explosion hazard. Respiratory Protection If dust, vapours or fumes are generated from processing, use appropriate respiratory protection. Vent (Local, Exhaust) Recommended if fumes, vapours or dust are generated during use. Vent (General, Mechanical) Recommended during handling and use. Protective Gloves Impermeable gloves are recommended if there is an existing skin disorder. Eye Protection Wear safety glasses or chemical goggles. Other Protection Eye wash facility. Precautions for Handling and Storage Do not breathe large amounts of dust. Wash after handling. Spill Remediation Measures Sweep, scoop or vacuum discharged material. Collect and contain in suitable disposal containers. Wash area with water, preventing run off into drains, sewers and other waterways. Waste Disposal Measures 9 - First Aid Consult federal, state/provincial and local authorities for proper disposal procedures.
