EMERGENCY OVERVIEW ***: Harmful if inhaled or swallowed. Causes skin and eye burns. Vapors irritating to eyes and respiratory tract. May cause allergic skin reaction. Heat or product contamination may cause hazardous polymerization. Violent, exothermic reaction with acids. Violent, exothermic reaction with bases. Violent, exothermic reactions if temperature >40°C.

Potential health effects

Eye Contact: May cause severe corneal damage and corrosion of eyes if not washed immediately and thoroughly. Immediate washing decreases the severity of the ocular effects. Corrosive. Causes chemical burns. Skin Contact: May cause skin sensitization, an allergic reaction, which becomes evident on re-exposure to this material. Toxic. Harmful if absorbed through the skin. Corrosive. Contact causes burning sensations, smarting, inflammation, burns, painful blisters. (CONTINUED) Inhalation: Corrosive. May cause burns resulting in permanent damage. Toxic. Harmful if inhaled. If misted, causes irritation of mucous membranes, nose, eyes, and throat. May cause coughing and difficulty in breathing. May cause excessive tear formation, coughing, wheezing, shortness of breath, nausea, and vomiting. Ingestion: Corrosive and may cause severe and permanent damage to mouth, throat and stomach. May cause "Cyanamide Flush", a transitory intense redness in the face accompanied by headache, nausea, vertigo, tachycardia, hypotension, and respiratory distress. General: Acute effects may be intensified by exposure to ethanol.
