SECTION 2: Hazards identification

DANGER Corrosive. Causes severe skin burns and eye damage. May cause severe eye irritation. Corrosive to digestive tract. If ingested, it may cause diarrhea, nausea, cramps, vomiting, and gastrointestinal irritation and burns to mouth, oesophagas, and stomach. Generally considered a non-irritant, does not have a significant risk, provided, that the proper use, handling and storage precautions are exercised. However, prolonged contact may cause irritation, skin dryness and cracking and redness. While this material has a low level of toxicity, good industrial hygiene practices are encouraged to minimize exposure.

Potential health effects

EYE: Moderate to severe eye irritant. SKIN: Causes severe skin burns and eye damage.. INGESTION: May cause nausea, vomiting and stomach irritation. Very low toxicity if swallowed. Small amounts swallowed incidentally as a result of normal handling operations are not likely to cause injury; however, swallowing larger amounts may cause injury. INHALATION: Prolonged inhalation may result in respiratory irritation. Under normal conditions, using adequate ventilation no problems are expected CHRONIC (CANCER) INFORMATION: Not listed by IARC or NTP as a carcinogen. TERATOLOGY (BIRTH DEFECT) INFORMATION: Not classified as a teratogen. A raw material in this product has caused birth defects in laboratory animals when ingested in high doses by pregnant animals. REPRODUCTION INFORMATION: Does not harm reproductive cells.
