2.3 Other hazards
This product is classified based on the potential for exposure to dust/particulate during mechanical agitation of the product (e.g. cutting, drilling, crushing, or grinding). Exposure may result in acute and chronic health problems. Aggregate mixtures consist of various types and sizes of natural stone aggregates that may contain variable quantities of quartz (crystalline silica).Respirable crystalline silica is a naturally occurring constituent that may cause cancer. Construction/ Manufacturing Aggregate may be subjected to various natural or mechanical processes that may result in airborne concentrations of nuisance dust mixed with respirable crystalline. Prolonged inhalation of crystalline silica may cause silicosis or cancer according to IARC and NTP. Other forms of crystalline silica (cristobalite/tridymite) may also be present.
