POTENTAL ACUTE (single or short term) HEALTH EFFECTS OF OVEREXPOSURE: Eye: May cause eye irritation. Symptoms may include stinging, tearing, and redness. Skin: Liquid may cause frostbite. Skin contact may cause irritation Ingestion: Ingestion is not considered a potential route of exposure. This material can enter the lungs during swallowing or vomiting and cause lung inflammation and/or damage Inhalation: Breathing large amounts may be harmful. Inhalation of concentrations above the recommended limits may cause temporary central nervous system depression with anesthetic effects such as dizziness, headache, incoordination, and loss of consciousness. Inhalation of respirable aerosols of the lubricant in this product may cause serious toxic effects in the lungs, based on animal studies. When heated to temperatures above 150°C in the presence of air the lubricant in this product can form formaldehyde vapors. Formaldehyde vapor is harmful by inhalation and irritating to eyes and respiratory systems at concentrations less than 1ppm. However, the rate of formaldehyde vapor formation is typically much lower than commercially produced polymeric materials such as nylons, polyethers or polyesters. Experimental evidence has indicated that the lubricant in this product may actually inhibit the production of formaldehyde vapors from the polymeric materials.
