Severity of damage increases with duration of contact. Skin May cause burns and tissue destruction. Prolonged or repeated skin contact may cause dermatitis. Inhalation May cause sneezing, coughing, breathing difficulty, chemical pneumonia, excess fluid, pulmonary edema, and irreversible damage. Ingestion Corrosive to the mucous membranes of the mouth, throat, esophagus, and stomach. May cause burns, tissue perforation, shock symptoms (rapid, pulse, sweating, collapse), even death.
