SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Emergency overview CAUTION: May cause moderate but temporary irritation to the eyes. HARMFUL IF ABSORBED THROUGH SKIN. HARMFUL IF SWALLOWED. HARMFUL IF INHALED. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN. KEEP OUT OF REACH OF DOMESTIC ANIMALS. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Avoid inhalation of dusts/mists/vapours. See Product Label for additional precautionary statements. State of matter: solid Colour: grey-brown Odour: almost odourless
Principle Routes of Exposure
Routes of entry for solids and liquids include eye and skin contact, ingestion and inhalation. Routes of entry for gases include inhalation and eye contact. Skin contact may be a route of entry for liquified gases. Acute toxicity: Moderately toxic after single ingestion. Slightly toxic after short-term skin contact. Slightly toxic after short-term inhalation. The data on toxicology refer to the active ingredient. Irritation / corrosion: Moderately irritating to the skin. May cause moderate but temporary irritation to the eyes. Sensitization: Skin sensitizing effects were not observed in animal studies. Chronic toxicity: Carcinogenicity: The product has not been tested. The statement has been derived from the properties of the individual components. The results of various animal studies gave no indication of a carcinogenic effect. Repeated dose toxicity: The data on toxicology refer to the active ingredient. Very high concentrations in the range of the maximum tolerated dose (MTD) have caused liver tumors in rats after chronic exposure. These concentrations will not be achieved under practical conditions.
Medical Conditions Generally Aggravated by Exposure
overexposure Individuals with pre-existing diseases of the respiratory system, skin or eyes may have increased susceptibility to excessive exposures. Signs and symptoms of overexposure: CNS stimulation, convulsions, tremors
Environmental effects
Aquatic toxicity: Very toxic (acute effect) to aquatic organisms. The ecological data given are those of the active ingredient. Terrestrial toxicity: With high probability not acutely harmful to terrestrial organisms.
