WARNING
Section 2
SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Emergency overview WARNING: COMBUSTIBLE LIQUID. This product can cause skin irritation and skin sensitization. Eye wash fountains and safety showers must be easily accessible. Avoid contact with the skin, eyes and clothing. Wear protective clothing. Wear full face shield if splashing hazard exists. Wear NIOSH-certified chemical goggles. Wear chemical resistant protective gloves. Use NIOSH approved respirator as needed to mitigate exposure. Exothermic polymerization may occur if storage conditions are exceeded or inhibitors become insufficient. Avoid all sources of ignition: heat, sparks, open flame. Ground conductive equipment properly to prevent electrostatic discharge. State of matter: liquid Colour: colourless Odour: ester-like
Principle Routes of Exposure
Routes of entry for solids and liquids include eye and skin contact, ingestion and inhalation. Routes of entry for gases include inhalation and eye contact. Skin contact may be a route of entry for liquified gases. Acute toxicity: Of low toxicity after single ingestion. Virtually nontoxic after a single skin contact. The inhalation of a highly enriched/saturated vapor-air-mixture represents an unlikely acute hazard. Irritation / corrosion: Not irritating to the eyes. Skin contact causes irritation. Assessment other acute effects: Causes temporary irritation of the respiratory tract. Sensitization: Sensitization after skin contact possible. Chronic toxicity: Carcinogenicity: Long-term exposure to highly irritating concentrations resulted in skin tumors in animals. A carcinogenic effect in humans can be excluded after brief skin contact. IARC Group 3 (not classifiable as to human carcinogenicity). Repeated dose toxicity: The substance may cause damage to the olfactory epithelium after repeated inhalation. After repeated exposure the prominent effect is local irritation. Reproductive toxicity: The results of animal studies gave no indication of a fertility impairing effect. The product has not been tested. The statement has been derived from substances/products of a similar structure or composition.
Teratogenic Effects
No indications of a developmental toxic / teratogenic effect were seen in animal studies. The product has not been fully tested. The statements have been derived in parts from products of a similar structure or composition. Genotoxicity: In the majority of studies performed with microorganisms and in mammalian cell culture, a mutagenic effect was not found. A mutagenic effect was also not observed in in vivo tests. Signs and symptoms of overexposure: Overexposure may cause:, convulsions, lethargy No hazard is expected under intended use and appropriate handling.
Environmental effects
Aquatic toxicity: Acutely toxic for aquatic organisms. The inhibition of the degradation activity of activated sludge is not anticipated when introduced to biological treatment plants in appropriate low concentrations. Terrestrial toxicity: Study not necessary due to exposure considerations.
