SECTION 2: Hazards identification
Emergency Overview: As noted in the preface to published values adopted by the ACGIH, TLV’s represent “conditions under which it is believed that nearly all workers may be repeatedly exposed day after day without adverse effect. Because of wide variation in individual susceptibility however, a small percentage of workers may experience discomfort from some substances at concentrations at or below the threshold limit; a smaller percentage may be affected more seriously by aggravation of a preexisting condition or by development of occupational illness.”
Potential health effects
INGESTION: Moderately irritating to gastrointestinal tract. Can cause headache, diarrhea, drowsiness, breathing difficulties, nausea, vomiting. 1 EYES: May be corrosive to eyes and cause severe damage, including blindness. Vapors may also be irritating to eyes. SKIN: Moderately irritating. Sensitizer. Prolonged or widespread contact may lead to irritation, defatting or dermatitis; absorption may lead to headache, drowsiness, nausea, breathing difficulties. INHALATION: Moderately irritating to nasal and respiratory tracts. Can cause headache, drowsiness, dizziness, breathing difficulties, nausea, unconsciousness.
